30 paintings in 30 days Day 6 - "He Sent The Letter Before the Ink was Dry"
I do love art that tells a story. Whether real or imagined, they intrigue us, invite us to consider the "what ifs", and pursue things we might not have otherwise. What excites you so much, that you would mail a letter before the ink is dry?
This painting is on a cradled birch panel - so lovely!! The initial layer has handmade lovely textured paper in the colors of the flag of Ireland. Many layers of paint are scumbled and brushed on in a design of those wild montbresia blowing in the breeze off of the Atlantic. These flowers grow in the hedges and ditches in the west of Ireland where I travel each summer. After I saw them the first time, I came home and planted some in my own garden.
This painting can be hung unframed for a contemporary look, or would look rather grand in a deep floater frame.
